Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria for Admission to First Year Engineering 2023-24

First Year

Maharashtra State Candidature Candidates:

  • The Candidate should be an Indian National
  • Passed HSC or its equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or Technical Vocational subject or Computer Science or Information Technology or Informatics Practices or Agriculture or Engineering Graphics or Business Studies and obtained at least 45% marks (at least 40% marks, in case of Backward Class categories, Economically Weaker Section and Persons with Disability category candidates belonging to Maharashtra State), in the subjects taken together; and the Candidate should have appeared in all the subjects in CET and should obtain non zero score in CET conducted by the Competent Authority
    OR
    Passed Diploma in Engineering and Technology and obtained at least 45% marks (at least 40% marks, in case of Backward Class categories, Economically Weaker Section and Persons with Disability category candidates belonging to Maharashtra State)

All India Candidature Candidates, Jammu and Kashmir Migrant Candidature Candidates:

  • The Candidate should be an Indian National
  • Passed HSC or its equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or Technical Vocational subject or Computer Science or Information Technology or Informatics Practices or Agriculture or Engineering Graphics or Business Studies and obtained at least 45 % marks (at least 40 % marks, in case of Backward Class categories, Economically Weaker Section and Persons with Disability category candidates belonging to Maharashtra State) in the above subjects taken together; and should obtain non zero positive score in JEE (Main) B.E./B.Tech or the candidate should have appeared in all the subjects in CET and should obtain non zero score in CET conducted by the Competent Authority. However preference shall be given to the candidate obtaining non zero positive score in JEE (Main) B.E./B.Tech over the candidates who obtained non zero score in CET; OR Passed Diploma in Engineering and Technology and obtained at least 45 % marks (at least 40 % marks, in case of Backward Class categories, Economically Weaker Section and Persons with Disability category candidates belonging to Maharashtra State )

Children of NRI / OCI / PIO, Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries, Foreign National:

  • The candidate should have passed the HSC or its equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or Technical Vocational subject or Computer Science or Information Technology or Informatics Practices or Agriculture or Engineering Graphics or Business Studies, and obtained at least 45 % marks in the above subjects taken together

Any other criterion declared from time to time by the appropriate authority as defined under the Act.

Direct Second Year (Lateral Entry) Admission

For Maharashtra State Candidature Candidates and All India Candidature Candidates

  • The Candidate should be an Indian National
  • Passed Diploma Course in Engineering and Technology with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates of Backward Class categories, Economically Weaker Section and Persons with Disability category belonging to Maharashtra State) in appropriate branch of Engineering and Technology from an All India Council for Technical Education or Central or State Government approved Institution or its equivalent.
    OR
    Passed B.Sc. Degree from a University Grants Commission (UGC) or Association of Indian Universities recognized University with at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates of Backward Class categories, Economically Weaker Section and Persons with Disability category belonging to Maharashtra State) and passed HSC or its equivalent examination with Mathematics as a subject provided that students belonging to this category shall clear the subjects of Engineering Graphics or Engineering Drawing and Engineering Mechanics of the first year Engineering Program along with second year subjects.
    OR
    Passed D.Voc. Stream in the same or allied sector
  • In the above cases, a suitable bridge Courses, if required such as in Mathematics may be conducted.
  • Any other criterion declared from time to time by the appropriate authority as defined under the Act.

Eligibility Criteria for P.G.(M.E./M.Tech) admission 2023-24

For Maharashtra Candidature Candidates and All India Candidature Candidates:

  • The Candidate should be an Indian National
  • Passed Bachelor Degree in the relevant field of Engineering and Technology or Pharmacy from All India Council for Technical Education or Central or State Government approved institutions or equivalent, with at least 50% marks (at least 45% marks in case of candidates of Backward Class categories, Economically Weaker Section and Persons with Disability category belonging to Maharashtra State.
  • Passed Bachelor Degree in the relevant course of Engineering and Technology or Pharmacy as specified in the eligibility criteria for admission to a Post Graduate Degree course of the concerned University for which admission is being sought
  • Obtained Qualified score in Graduates Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology and valid for the current academic year
    OR
    Obtained non-Qualified marks in Graduates Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology for the current academic year.
    OR
    Obtained qualified score in Graduates Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) conducted by National Testing Agency and valid for the current academic year.
    OR
    Obtained non-Qualified marks in Graduates Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) conducted by National Testing Agency for the current academic year.
    OR
    For sponsored candidates, minimum of two years of full time work experience in a registered firm/ company/ industry/ educational and/ or research institute/ any Government Department or Government Autonomous Organization in the relevant field in which admission is being sought
  • GATE or GPAT Qualified Candidates shall have preference over the not qualified Candidates.

Children of NRI / OCI / PIO, Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries, Foreign National:

  • Passed Bachelor Degree in the relevant field of Engineering and Technology or Pharmacy from All India Council for Technical Education or Central or State Government approved institutions or equivalent, with at least 50% marks.
  • Passed Bachelor Degree in the relevant course of Engineering and Technology or Pharmacy as specified in the eligibility criteria for admission to a Post Graduate Degree course of the concerned University for which admission is being sought.
  • Any other criterion declared from time to time by the appropriate authority as defined under the Act.

Eligibility Criteria for M.C.A. admission 2023-24

For Maharashtra State Candidature Candidates, All India Candidature Candidates, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh Migrant Candidature Candidates

  • The candidate should be an Indian National.
  • Passed BCA or Bachelor Degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent Degree and obtained at least 50% marks in aggregate (at least 45% in case of candidates of Backward Class categories, Economically Weaker Section and Persons with Disability category belonging to Maharashtra State).
    OR
    Passed B.Sc. or B.Com. or B.A. with Mathematics at 10+2 Level or at Graduation Level (with additional bridge Courses as per the norms of the concerned University) and obtained at least 50% marks in aggregate (at least 45% in case of candidates of Backward Class categories, Economically Weaker Section and Persons with Disability category belonging to Maharashtra State).
  • Obtained non zero positive score in CET

NRI / OCI/ PIO, Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries and Foreign National Candidature Candidates:

  • Passed BCA or Bachelor Degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent Degree and obtained at least 50% marks in aggregate.
    OR
    Passed B.Sc. or B.Com. Or B.A. with Mathematics at 10+2 Level or at Graduation Level (with additional bridge Courses as per the norms of the concerned University) and obtained at least 50% marks in aggregate.
  • Any other criterion declared from time to time by the appropriate authority as defined under the Act.

Eligibility Criteria for M.B.A. admission 2023-24

Maharashtra State Candidature Candidate

  • The candidate should be an Indian National.
  • Passed minimum three year duration Bachelor’s Degree awarded by any of the Universities recognized by the University Grants Commission or Association of Indian Universities in any discipline with at least 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent (at least 45% in case of candidates of Backward Class categories, Economically Weaker Section and Persons with Disability category belonging to Maharashtra State) or its equivalent.
  • Obtained nonzero score in CET conducted by the Competent Authority.

All India Candidature Candidate, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh Migrant Candidature Candidates:

  • The candidate should be an Indian National.
  • Passed minimum three year duration Bachelor’s Degree awarded by the University recognized by the University Grants Commission or Association of Indian Universities in any discipline with at least 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent (at least 45% in case of candidates of Backward Class categories, Economically Weaker Section and Persons with Disability category belonging to Maharashtra State) or its equivalent.
  • Obtained non zero positive score in one of the following examinations; CET conducted by the Competent Authority, Common Admission Test conducted by Indian Institute of Management (CAT) or Common Management Aptitude Test Conducted by National Testing Agency (CMAT)

NRI / OCI/ PIO, Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries and Foreign National Candidature Candidates:

  • Passed minimum three year duration Bachelor’s Degree awarded by the University recognized by the University Grants Commission or Association of Indian Universities in any discipline with at least 50% marks in aggregate or its equivalent.
  • Any other criterion declared from time to time by the appropriate authority as defined under the Act.

Eligibility for admission to Ph. D. programme( SPPU Norms):

  • Candidates have a Master's degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, shall be allowed for those belonging to reserved categories/Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates as per policies of the Government of Maharashtra prescribed from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master's degree prior to 19th September, 1991. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures.
  • Candidates who have cleared the M.Phil. course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and successfully completing the M.Phil. Degree shall be eligible to proceed to do research work leading to the Ph. D. Degree in the same institution in an integrated programme. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, shall be allowed for those belonging to reserved categories/DifferentlyAbled and other categories of candidates as per policies of the Government of Maharashtra prescribed from time to time.
  • M. Phil. student of SPPU whose M.Phil. dissertation has been evaluated and the viva voce is pending may be admitted to the Ph.D. programme.
  • Candidates possessing a Degree considered equivalent to M.Phil. Degree of an Indian institution, from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.
