Title: Industry Guest Session on “Cloud Computing and Virtualization”
Day and Date: Saturday, 13th May 2023
Activity: Industry Guest Lecture on “Cloud Computing” was organized by Department of Computer Engineering, PES’s MCOE, Pune. The session was attended by 35+ students from TE Computer Engineering Department. Expert covered topics Cloud Computing need in Industry, Virtualization concepts was explained by expert.

Activity: Industry Guest Lecture on “Software Architecture design and Testing” has organized by Department of Computer Engineering, PES’s MCOE,Pune. WORKSHOP ON "COMPUTER GRAPHICS USING OPEN GL"

Date of conduction: 18-27 /02/2019

Resource Person: Mr. Gaurav Bhokre (S/ W Developer, Void Star India Solutions Pvt. Ltd.)

Objective: To learn OpenGL and develop animations using OpenGL.

  • FOSS Club of Modern College of Engineering Pune-05, has organized workshop on Computer graphics using Open GL.
  • Mr. Gaurav has explained in history, present & future of computer graphics. They briefed about OpenGL as a standard, framework, windowing, pixels, rasterization process, framebuffers and GPU.
  • They gave hands-on for programs like colored window, OpenGL primitives, 2D & 3D drawing.

Outcome: Students will able to explain OpenGL framework and develop small 2D & 3D animation using OpenGL.

WEBINAR ON : DATA ANALYTICS USING R

Objective:

  • To understand the use of Data Analytics using R.

Outcome: Students are able to explain about data analytics and R.

MINI PROJECT COMPETITION

Date of conduction:Saturday, 13th October 2018.

Resource Person:Mr. Nachiket Kulkarni, Ms. Ishwari Kulkarni, Ms. Aditi Chavan, Ms. Vinamra Pathak.

Objective:

  • To inculcate presentation and communication skills by demonstrating implemented project work.

Outcome: Participants got awareness about fast growing technologies and suggestions for converting mini project into major practical usages.

Summary report:

  • FOSS club of Modern College of Engineering Pune-05, has organized a department level project competition for SE, TE and BE students.
  • Students got open platform to present their mini projects. They got guidelines and assessment of projects by industry personnel. 20 projects groups from SE, TE and BE participated in competition.

ALGORITHM COMPLEXITIES AND ASYMPTOTIC NOTATIONS

Objective:

  • To understand the concepts of asymptotic notations and algorithm complexities.

Outcome: Participants leaned that whyand how algorithmic approach is needed to solve complex problem.

Summary report:

  • FOSS of Modern College of Engineering Pune-05, has organized session on Algorithm complexities and asymptotic notations. Yogeshwar Sir has explained in brief about sorting algorithms. They explained the heterogeneous architectures.Various factors affecting complexity calculations were explained.
  • Around 50 students from department have been participated in activity.





INTRODUCTION TO SDKS AND PACKAGE MANAGEMENT IN UBUNTU.

Objective:

  • To understand the concepts packages in Linux.
  • To understand dpkg tool.

Outcome:Participants leaned that how SDK’s and Packages are built.

Summary report:

  • FOSS of Modern College of Engineering Pune-05, has organized session on Introduction to SDKs and Package management in Ubuntu.
  • Sir has explained in brief about creation of .deb file.
  • Mr. Abhijeet also told how the package is gets installed on linux machine.

INTRODUCTION TO FOSS AND LINUX WORKING

Objective:

  • To understand the concepts free and Closed source softwares.
  • To understand GPL Licence of open source software

Outcome:Participants leaned that FOSS means Libre, not gratis.

  • FOSS of Modern College of Engineering Pune-05, has organized session on Introduction to FOSS and Linux working.
  • Resource person have explained in brief about open source software and hardware.
  • Various FOSS Technologies are discussed such as Python, Wordpress, Drupal.
  • Around 50 students from department have been participated in activity.



ROBOTICS WORKSHOP AND ONBOARD PROGRAMMING.

Date of conduction: Wednesday, 28/09/2016

Resource Person: Mr. Ayush Singhal and Mr. Diwakar Pal.

Objective: To make students develop small robotics application.

Outcome: Students can develop application like line tracing robot.

Summary report:

  • The workshop was conducted in association with the Techfest, IIT BOMBAY.
  • An approximate of 85 students attended the workshop.
  • The actual kits for making a robot were provided to the students.
  • Everyone was very happy with the workshop. It was a successful workshop.



BACK TO BASICS: GNU/LINUX.

Date of conduction:Saturday, 10/09/2016

Resource Person: Mr. Paritosh Medhekar.

Objective: To make students aware of free and open-source software concepts.

Outcome: Students are introduced to command line Linux concepts using the GNU/Linux operating system.

Summary report:

Many people still believe that learning Linux is difficult, or that only experts can understand how a Linux system works. Though there is a lot of free documentation available, the documentation is widely scattered on the Web, and often confusing, since it is usually oriented toward experienced Linux users.

INAUGURATION OF FOSS CLUB.

Date of conduction: Friday, 12/08/2016

Resource Person: Mr. Yogeshwar Shukla, Mr. Raju V.

Objective: To make students aware of free and open-source software concepts.

Outcome:Students can develop open-source/free software and deploy software using public licenses.

Summary report:

A formal inauguration program of FOSS (Free Open Source Software) Club was held on 12th of August 2016. Mr Yogeshwar Shulka was the guest speaker for the event. Students and staff from Computer, E&TC and IT engineering attended the session. Prof. Dr. Mrs. S. A. Itkar, HOD Computer provided the insight of the formation of the club.

Mr.Yash Khanzode, Student TE Computer, interacted with the students and presented the basic idea and importance of FOSS Club.

Mr. Yogeshwar Shukla guided students for creating their own free open source software, explained some key points like Administration, Tool-Chains, Development, Bug Fixing (using bugzilla), Building and Testing products and Domains in the field of open source.

Mr. Raju encouraged students for active participation in FOSS Club. Overall the inauguration was successful and beneficial for the students.




WORKSHOP ON ROBOTICS

Objective:

  • To give insight in to the Robotics.

Outcome:To develop the ability to analyze and design different Robots

Summary report:

ANDROID STUDIO

Objective:

  • To be aware of how android studio works and the android OS.

Outcome:Students were able to handle android studios and got a first-hand experience of working on Android.

Summary report:

  • Soubhik Das and Paritosh Medhekar gave a session on how to work on android studio-from installation to creation of apps.
  • Project development using Android studio was discussed.
  • The actual kits for making a robot were provided to the students.
  • Also, the activities for further sessions were being planned.




ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON LATEX

Date of conduction:Saturday, 16-7-2016

Resource Person: Mr. A. S. Rumale

Objective:

  • To give awareness to students the importance of LATEX to write research papers and project report.

Outcome:The students were able to use LATEX typesetting technique and found it easy to use.

Summary report:

  • In engineering and education for writing project reports, seminars, conference / reserach papers now a day's LATEX is becoming more popular due to its excellent typesetting and ease of use. So we had arranged a session under CSI to make students aware of it.
  • Students of S.E, T.E and B.E participated in this session actively.
  • During the session students actively participated and noted down all the important points with hands-on.
  • Session concluded with some more guidance about how to prepare project report and presentation.




INSTALLATION OF LATEX ON UBUNTU

Objective:

  • To give information to students about the installation of LaTeX on Ubuntu

Outcome: Understanding the importance of Open source tools and installation procedure of LaTeX.

  • How to install LaTex on Ubuntu.
  • Step wise procedure to install LaTex on Ubuntu.




HARDWARE COMPONENTS OF CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT (CPU)

Objective:

  • To Explain hardware components of Central Processing Unit (CPU)
  • Introduction of Linux Operating System.

Outcome:

  • Understanding the importance of Open source tools and installation procedure of LaTeX.
  • Introduction of Linux operating system.

Summary report:

  • In this session Manish gave information about hardware components of CPU.
  • He has explained the major Parts of CPU like RAM, Hard-disk and Processor with their functions.
  • Also covered the difference between RAM, HDD and other components.
  • Omkar gave an introuduction to Linux Operating System.
  • He explained what is Linux, why it is necessary? and also how it is better than Windows Operating Systems




SEMINAR ON LATEX

Date of conduction:Monday, 23/03/2015

Resource Person:Archana Sonagi, Prajakta (M.E Students of MCOE Pune)

Objective:

  • To make students familiar with the Latex .

Outcome: This session helped students realize the importance of Latex and its use in documentation.

Summary report:

  • What is Latex and its importance.
  • A demo on how to prepare slides and report using the Latex was given.



Foss Club

Free Software does not mean Free of cost software. Software which gives it's users the freedom to use, copy, modify and distribute modifications to others.Free Software is now everywhere. The Firefox Browser, VLC Media Player, Libreoffice Office Suite, GNU/Linuxes like Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, etc. are all free software.

  • To increase the use of open source software.
  • To implement software using public license.
  • To study revision control & source code management

Goal

  • To prepare students for implementing projects on various domains by using Open source software's.
